Samar Aboulsoud, MD, PhD, MSc Med Ed, FHEA, MAcadMEd

Dr Aboulsoud is a passionate healthcare leader who brings more than 28 years of experience in medicine with experience in strategic leadership, change management and healthcare policy with specific expertise in educational leadership, accreditation and regulation of healthcare systems and healthcare workforce. Dr Aboulsoud worked in several capacities in administration, education, quality and patient care in academic, corporate, government, publishing, and not-for-profit organizations with a long track record of project execution and globally recognized accomplishments. A nationally and internationally recognized leader in continuing medical education, with a deep interest in knowledge management and its effective translation to healthcare practice, with several committee and advisory board appointments and awards. Among her achievements is the construction of an internationally celebrated accreditation system for an entire nation. She managed the system that has elevated medical education and its administration in Qatar. Dr Samar expertise extends beyond continuing professional development and she has made important contributions to curriculum planning, teaching, learning and assessment. She pursued advanced training in medical education and has progressively led several national and international projects to reform and facilitate change including collaborations with internal and external stakeholders on topics ranging from OSCE examination, evaluation of unstructured interviews, creating a culture of inter-professionalism, substantial equivalency agreements, and meeting international accreditation standards for residency training. She is an active presenter in medical education conferences and a well published scholar in the field. Dr Aboulsoud is the chair of the CPD committee of the AMEE. She is a board director of the GAME, a member of the Academy of Medical Educators, the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK). She was also a member of the International Academy of CPD Accreditation. Amongst many awards and recognitions; she was selected as one of the best 100 Chief Executive Officers in the Arab world in 2017; as well as the British Council UK alumni award in professional achievement 2019.
